Appointed by Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Brandon Carter took the oath of office as Prosecuting Attorney for Washington and Madison Counties, the 2nd largest prosecutor's office in the state, in November of 2024. A native of Northeastern Oklahoma, Carter earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in 1999, graduating cum laude. He relocated to Northwest Arkansas in 2001, where he continued his legal education at the University of Arkansas School of Law, graduating with his Judo Doctor in 2005. Carter's career as a state and federal prosecutor began in Benton County, where he successfully handled a range of felony offenses and played a pivotal role in high-profile capital murder cases. His dedication and skill led to his appointment as an Assistant United States Attorney in 2012, where he received multiple accolades, including three FBI Director's Awards and the DEA Administrator's Award for his exemplary work in combating organized crime and drug trafficking. As an AUSA, he handled appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit. "I am deeply committed to ensuring that justice is served fairly and with integrity," said Carter. "My experiences in both state and federal courts have equipped me with the knowledge necessary to make informed, just decisions that impact our community. I am ready to serve on the Court of Appeals and continue the important work of upholding the law." Brandon and his wife, Tay Sha, reside in west Springdale
with their two daughters, Ainslee and Maggie. Ainslee recently graduated
from Har-Ber High School with highest honors and will attend the University
of Central Arkansas, and Maggie is an elementary student at Springdale
Public Schools. Tay Sha, a former Associate Dean at Northwest Arkansas
Community College, remains actively involved in local education and sports,
reflecting the Carter family's dedication to community
service.
